Course Objective

Students should be able to:

1(a) recall what waves transfer and do not transfer
(b) describe a wave
(c) distinguish between transverse waves and longitudinal waves with examples.
2(a) describe wave parameters using definitions and units.

3 (a) recall the two equations for calculating wave speed
(b) use these equations to calculate wave speed in different scenarios.
4 (a) explain what happens during refraction of waves
(b) state where refraction occurs
(c) draw and label diagrams showing refraction.
(d) explain how the change in the speed of a wave changes its direction.
